Hello

Does anyone know when android is going to feature something equivalent to FaceID? I know android has had face unlock for years but I’m referring to something as secure as FaceID which can be used to authenticate banking apps and payments etc.

Many thanks

M.

Since it requires hardware I don’t see there ever being a standardised face unlock on Android, unless you’re talking about a specific model getting the feature. The Mate 20 pro claims to have the same thing as Apple afaik, but a quick Google suggests it’s nothing like as secure.

The general android trend (and one which rumours suggest Apple will also adopt at some time) is for in-display fingerprint unlock.

Shame, faceid is so much better than fingerprint unlocking :(

The Pixel 4 is rumoured to have it, which is why, along with rumoured soli support, it's supposedly going to have a sizeable top bezel.

I hope something implements it. Not a fan of finger print readers, the most overhyped thing on smartphones for me, usually causing more issues than they solve.
