.. to control age restrictions.

Whilst this seems like a good idea, it surely boils down to parenting to control what games their children play or not..

Myself and my wife (who's a child minder btw ) have constantly been asked down the years at work if their kids can play certain "older" games. Well your're the parent, you decide.

"Can my son play COD?"
"How old is he?"
"Nine"
"What does the rating say?"
"Eighteen"
"So what do you think?"

Sure, boundaries can be moved. For example, there's no legal age a child can be left at home alone, there are only guidelines. It's merely down to the maturity of the child and whether or not the parent feels they can be trusted and responsible. Common sense sates that you wouldn't leave a 9 year old in the house alone but you may a 13 year old (or not).. It's the same for films, video games, and even some music..

Whilst parenting control and reporting is a good idea, parents have to take some responsibility and make their own call on media filtering without relying on tech to do their parenting for them.
