Factions with henchman

I have not finished Guild Wars yet - one level 10 necro/monk and one level 16 war/monk. I am tempted to jump straight into Factions because of the lusher looking environments and design. I am a gamer whom is influenced by my surroundings and I find some of GW areas a bit bland where as the Factions environments look more attractive.

Is it possible to play Factions with only henchman as this was my preferred way of playing?

I think Prophecies actually has a little more variation however there is nothing wrong with jumping straight over to Cantha the stories aren't linked at all :)

Oh and are you in a guild?

I know there is one around here somewhere ;)

Factions can be played with henchmen except for a few tricky missions! same as Tyria.

You could play it with henchmen but you will not get very far or very fast, factions throws you in at a very high level very quickly. Henchmen don’t respond to what is happening in the game and therefore don’t adapt to and changes in the game play, sooner or later you will have to rely on other players in the later levels in the prophecies campaign and even sooner in the factions campaign. If you are not in a guild you should join one purely and simply because the people in a guild are not like random groups and you get to know them.

Join our guild if you want help in any missions ;) (link to the guild forum in sig)

It is entierly possible.

I have done all missions in Prophecies with henchies bar 3.
(Thunderhead Keep... Henchies > PuG)

About 1/3rd of the Factions missions with henchies so far.
(Need to get more of it done)
Not found one I couldn't do so far.

Oh, and once you are in a guild, and have regular people you play with - You learn what each other are good at etc and learn to play as part of a team far more.
Then missions take half the time.
(But you can't stop for a 5 min break in the middle as I am want to do. :p )

Agreed, henchies understand what you want them to do :)

You can in our guild, we have regular beer/cigs/baby trouble breaks :)

Has anyone henchied Aurora Glade in Prophecies? i'm having so many problems finding a decent team who know what they're doing.

I've read what to do and i know you have to run the crystals to the plynths, but is there enough time to do it by yourself with henchies.

I haven't done it myself, I once got caught in an endless cycle of getting a shrine up then loosing one. This was a while ago mind you (10 months ish) I think the only way would be to take out all the opposing forces while holding onto one shrine until they are dead!

Bit rusty on this though :)

Like Sweetloaf, I'm a bit rusty, and it is harder with henchies. There is a sequence to the crystals - think it was left one first, furthest right next, and then the nearest one. Have run equipped too (if your char has it). Bonus is near impossible with henchies, unless you kill everything!

Edit: Can someone add Croglin Range to the guild. Been away for 9 months but didn't have a baby this time!!

Factions, is do-able with henchmen, but some of the co-ops are very hard, even with a good team, played through it a few times with monk and warrior to the end, but not with ritualist(far too weak).

As for Prophecies, Aurora glade bonus is possible with henchmen, you just have to kill everything first. There is only one bonus thats eluded me with henchmen, and thats Bloodstone Fen, saldy the henchmen attack the druids and thats an instant fail :(.

I dropped WoW a while back, and am wondering if Guild Wars is better for casual gaming?

I also like the no sub fees.

Which would be better though, 1, or Factions?

Cannot be bothered to get both.

I was really into GW:P got factions and dont like it mind u I dont PVP , really enjoyed GW:P and yes u can do whole game with henchies , you may struggle with thunderhead keep ! that missions is Tuff

Gotta defend my characters honour here :p

My ritualist is a damage dealing killing machine. As a lead character they do suck as they cant take much damage, but as a support character in a group its great.

Takes a few seconds to lay down spirits, but once you've got 3 down all doing 15+ damage per hit you can get a regular stream of about 60+ dmg (including your character + spirits), also i have necro secondary which means up to 5/6 minions doing 8 damage each.

Plus they're versatile, i've had monks thanking me for rezzing them mid battle therefore saving everyone else from a quick death. I can re-spec to a healing machine and be a secondary monk.

I love my ritualist, its a tough class to play with but if you get it right they can be so powerful.

Same here, it was initially a little baffling to play but with practice it's a very powerful class.

Hehe, I was wondering when my "weak Rit" remark would get ragged :p

Nah, didnt really mean it, my rit is channeling and does a shed load of damage, I think I said he was "weak" as i'm used to playing warrior and monk, both are very strong, and are the 2 professions I have played since the beta phase so much I have broke 2,500 game hours(yes I need a life :D ). But i'm in a fantastic guild and a great alliance, so I still enjoy prophecies greatly, as for factions, good game, could and should have been much much better.

Yeah, that's why I deleted my Ritualist and started my Canthan Necro. Now that I've completed Factions, with Samael, and don't seem to use the Necro that much I may delete her and persevere with a Ritualist.

Bought Prophecies :D

Thinking of going Ranger/Monk unless anyone can give me a good reason not to?
