Are you doing this from a USB bootable drive? It might be worth reinstalling Windows 10/11 from scratch, you can get everything you need to from here (Win10) or here (Win11).

No straight from the system settings area , usually when I’ve done it before on a normal laptop it’s worked straight away I’m confused ‍♀️

Tbh it's not a feature I've ever used. I've used the Windows restore point from time to time but when it comes to getting Windows to run optimally I would prefer just to do a complete format and reinstallation. I would suggest creating that boot drive and take a look your option, pretty sure there's some sort of restore feature in there.

windows 11?
is this what you tried?
settings
reset this pc
then either keep my files or remove everything options?

if so try open command prompt as admin
type in
reagentc /info
to see if recovery environment is enabled
if its disabled type this in then press enter
reagentc /enable
then try to reset

if that doesnt work
it might be the recovery wim is corrupted

This is what I’ve tried and I get the error.. but the PC is new from Overclockers so shouldn’t be a corrupted file?

I’ll give it another try but if that doesn’t work what’s the next step?
Thanks

I’ll just have to have a few hours looking into that I don’t want to risk anything and messing the system up lol

It might be new
But has it applied any windows updates
Since you got it?

And what was the reason to need to reset it?

To be honest the easiest next step
Is to download windows
And make an installation/recovery usb with rufus etc

The other option of trying to repair a corrupted recovery wim
Would involve using a second PC
Or extracting the recovery wim from install esd
Or probably could download the recovery wim too
Then finding your wims location
And pasting in the replacement wim

I haven’t tried it since updates to be honest I’ll give it ago and no reason I just haven’t used it in a while so I wanted a fresh start on it all like you get me thanks bud !

Once you sort it

Next thing I would look into
Making an image backup
Can restore your pc to whatever state you want
And much faster than reset or installing windows
Takes me literally under 3 minutes to restore mine
Though I do have multiple m2 nvme drives
So the images are restored severely quickly
But even if your images were on a 2.5ssd
Looking at approx 500Mbs
You can do baseline image with just a
Brand new windows install
Then image with your software etc installed
Sooner or later with a pc something goes wrong
It's much faster just to restore image files
Than figuring out what's wrong and how to fix it
