I fractured my wrist playing football on Monday playing football, its now in pot and will be for 4-6 weeks.

I don't feel any pain really but have the necassary drugs if I do so, has anyone been in a similar position and continued playing sports? I'd like to play footy next week.

Cheers

I've fractured a wrist 3 times so far (gym, snowboarding, martial arts). Biggest reason not to do sports with a cast on is that you'll sweat, and all the sweat from your arm has nowhere to go, the inside of the cast gets clammy, sticky, starts to smell and there's nothing you can do about it :).

Why risk further damaging a fractured wrist
Let the injury heal properly and fully before entering any activity that is a contact sport. I've had to many fractured bones, torn muscles and ligaments to list (Rugby :o ) and have learnt the hard way. There is no short cut to recovery.

I'll 2nd that.

While it's possible to play again before being out of the cast, a week is probably a bit early, if only for the reason bam0 pointed out.

Is it 5 a side or just training? If it's 5 a side I'm not sure they would even allow someone to play with a cast on.

You seem to be having bad luck with injuries lately.

Only legends can play with plaster casts on ;)

Tell me about it !! Worst thing is I'm picking up these injurys in "friendly" games after work. Played football for about 15 years and never got injured

There's no such thing as a friendly game ;)

Funny you should say that as the whole incident was caused from some wreckless challenges, I rob the ball of a guy he starts chopping away at the back of my legs, I pass it on and the same guy gets the ball back, me being a little pee'd off go in quite hard but my foot goes over the ball leading me to fall on my arse, I put my arm down to soften the fall...

The rest is history!
