I've had two 160gb Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 SATA, I bought both about 12 months ago. I can barely believe my luck both drives have failed. One died about 3 months ago and the shop where I bought them removed the first and returned it to Seagate. I've been a bit slow collecting it, and now the second ones failed.

a) As anyone heard of any reliability problems with Barracuda 7200.7's?

b) I am gonna push for a completely different drive, any recommendations as to the best drive to go for around 320 gb capacity>?

Thanks in advance... :(

Tbh i havent heard of problems with a whole range of seagate drives. if these drives were bought at the same time the may be a part of a batch that weren't so good!

As For alternatives i think the general opinion will be WD

I have had 2 x 200 WD Barracudas 7200.7 SATAs (non-NCQ) running almost all the time for the last 2 years and there has not been a peep out of them, very pleased with them. :)
