Failed driving test questions

The driving test isn’t about driving normally, it’s about driving using a very specific set of rules that aren’t always compatible with driving in the real world. My mum passed her driving test first time and is one of the worst drivers I’ve ever met, I know other people who needed a few attempts and are good drivers.

In a test scenario - stick to the rules, which say they have priority in that situation, unless the examiner decides something unusual has occurred (such as a break down or an unnecessarily overpolite driver who is going to refuse to take their priority) and instructs you otherwise. If in doubt, communicate your thought process "I'm not hesitating, i'm at a give way, they have priority to turn but aren't taking it" which may prompt the examiner to intervene if it is becoming obvious the other driver is not behaving correctly/as expected.

"They're a bit slow and dithery and should have taken that last gap, I'm going ahead of them now" doesn't cut it in a test :p

In real life - pull out in front of them regardless, gesticulating wildly through the side window so they fully appreciate how incompetent they are.

This is a real bug bear of mine when I'm on my motorbike, don't dive into the gutter to let me pass, don't slow down to let me pass, other than avoiding driving in to me basically pretend I'm not there. If I choose to pass I'll pass because I'm happy it's safe not because someone else has decided I can.
I had this early summer. They pulled over so far they kicked a load of dust and dirt up from clipping the dry verge then overcorrected slightly crossing the middle markings…very bizarre and funnily enough I moved back further so I had time for any other randomness they pulled.
