Failed Job Interview

Whoever said Honesty was the best policy?

It is in some cases, it totally depends on who you're interviewing with and you need to be absolutely certain that they will side with you which isn't possible!

I said that my old employer let their staff members down constantly and a whole bunch of us left within the space of 2 weeks of each other and I got the job for a previous position and the interviewer understood the situation I was describing.

It doesn't always work out that way though, Specsavers once told me I wasn't successful because I seemed to "jumpy on my toes" as f I had too high a dream with my progression goals and where I came from previously but I was glad I didn't get it because a colleague of mine came from there recently because it was a hell hole to work in with deadlines and figures being constantly hammered around :S

Think of it as if everything happens for a reason, you didn't get this job but you will get a better one soon enough - But you can't give up :p

I got asked "why are wanting to leave your current job" tho which I answered "its not that I want to leave as such, but I don't really feel like I'm learning anything new, etc", it worked as I got the job.

Whatever the perspective employment management is like, it always looks bad to **** off your last/current job. You always leave for personal development or expanding horizons etc.

When attending an interview remember these 3 important points!
1. how much is the pay?
2. how much holiday do you get each year
3. How long do you get for your breaks?

Very important you ask this on your next interview to guarantee your placement.

Never ever **** of your old company or boss in an interview. It comes across as very negative. When they ask why you want to leave your current job just say things I want to further my career, I see this role you are offering as a good chance to further my career, I have been told this is a fantastic company to work for etc.

tis a joke ya?
those would not be my questions.....

I've lost jobs before for many different stupid reasons varying from "i'd get too bored", "i'd leave as soon as I found a better job" and "i'm too good". You soon learn the truth is always best polished, tell them what they want to hear else they'll read into everything you say. For example if your boss is a complete ****, leave that out and just mention his good points. You literally have to take all the good qualities for their ideal candidate and make out you fill all the criteria.

In an ideal situation you would be completely and utterly honest but trust me it never pays off.

Hang in there and keep trying :). I failed an interview recently as well for my dream job with The RSPCA. If it's not this time, it'll be next time :D

You have to turn a strength into a weakness by saying something like you can be too competitive, work too hard or you care too much about your users plight :p
