Hi all

I have a D-Link Sharecentre that appears to have stopped working, it still turns on but doesn't seem to boot the hard drives. I was wondering what the best way is to attempt to retrieve the data off of the drives, assuming it isn't 1 of/both of the drives that have given up.

Both drives are 2tb in raid 1 and so data was being mirrored, can I simply plug 1 of these into my PC, or would I have to put both of them in the PC in a raid configuration?

Will Windows pick the hard drive up, or will I need to use linux? I want to hopefully copy all of the data to a different hard drive and then I'm considering buying a Synology NAS if I can't get the DLink working again/replaced.

Any help/advice/guides are welcome

Thanks in advance

You should only need to plug one of them in because they are a mirror of each other.
I know Linux will allow you to access the data, you will most likely have to manually mount the drive though because it will notice it is part of a RAID.
I have never tried with Windows.

Edit:
This might help you

Cheers mate, that worked

Bought a 3TB external hd, mounted one of the raid drives in linux and copied all the data across.

Quite impressed with transfer speeds of usb3, first time i''ve had chance to use it.
