Failed stress test!

Its never let me down yet, obviously make sure your system is set to boot from the DVD drive yeah! ;)

:D

I must be coming across as a simpleton... :p :D

I'm starting to wonder if the BIOS is part of the problem, with not being able to boot into memtest!?! I'm using ASUS 0404beta, so who knows...

Okay, couldn't get either memtest or memtest+ to work, but i'm currently running the Windows Memory Diognostic, on UBCD. 1st pass was successful, but i'll let it run for a good hour or so, and see if anything comes up.

Has anyone else had problems with Memtest, using a P5K Dlx and BIOS v0404?

You're best avoiding beta BIOS's til you know what your stable settings are.

Do you think i should flash it back to the previous revision? If i can't find the problem, i guess that'd make sense anyhoo. ;)

I've just checked and there is a 0404 final BIOS. 0501 is the latest beta. Might be worth flashing to the final 0404, tho it may be the exact same BIOS. I'm not sure on the ASUS numbering system tbh.

They don't hang about do they! :D I'll be updating that this evening without a doubt. Cheers. ;)

Oh well... I installed the non beta BIOS v0404, then disabled legacy support and tried memtest again... No Joy. :(

I then ran a Blend Test in Prime which lasted 1hr 15mins before a core failed...

I was a bit surprised that my setting stayed the same when i flashed the BIOS!?! I was expecting to have to re-configure my RAID drives etc... Is that normal, or did it not update it, as the version number was the same!?!?!?!

Sorry, that was the BIOS number. I just flashed the BETA 0404, for the final version. The file name was the same, so maybe they didn't make any more changes!?!

The good news is, i finally got memtest working... Disabled absolutely everything in BIOS, so something was conflicting. 3 discs wasted... :( :D

75% through the second pass, with no errors as yet. I'll run it overnight and see what happens i guess.

Thanks again, for all the help. ;)

Okay, i'm back to trying to sort this out lol!

I ran memtest86+ last night for 8+ hours with no faults. So today i ran Prime95 in DOS, also with everything in BIOS disabled; 10 hours later and no faults, i think!?! I'm assuming that if there had been any faults Prime would've stopped? When i got home it was still running, but i couldn't scroll up very far.

What's my next step? Switch one thing on in BIOS at a time, and scan again?

Am i right in thinking this is probably a BIOS conflict, or is there a lot more that it could be yet!?!

Sorry to still be boring you with this... :D

Cheers
