Cob said:Which OCZ PC8500 do you have beano? I see the Reaper version is rated as high as 2.3v.

Cyber-Mav said:fist thing you should do when you overclock a pc is to not even bother booting up the OS but go directly into a memory test. after that do a cpu test.
Jokester said:1.25V should be more than enough for any C2D at stock speeds. What voltage is your RAM at?
It'll be this then. 2.2v should be enough.beano said:Now you're asking lol! All it says on the box is OCZ Performance DDR2 memory. It's SLI ready, and it has a black cover over the chips!?!
1.1625v at idle would indicate that it's changing when SpeedStep kicks in, but I can't say I've ever seen the VID change in CoreTemp. The voltage reading will definitely change in CPU-Z, but not in CoreTemp.beano said:Yup. Went up to 1.3250 under load, and was 1.1625 idle!?! Is it to do with the stepping?
Memtest86.beano said:I'm not planning an over clock yet lol! What do you use for testing memory?
Keep it at 2.2v.beano said:I put it up to 2.2, but that didn't make any difference, so it's back on Auto at the moment.

Cyber-Mav said:2 of the best memory testing programs around are memtest86+ and goldmemory.

PantsUK said:there is a setting in the bios called "CPU VOLTAGE DAMPER" make sure that is set to enabled. This should reduce your vdroop. (might need latest bios version)

Cob said:Go to here and download the "Pre-Compiled Bootable ISO (.zip)".
Unzip it and burn the resultant .iso file to CD using ImgBurn or Nero or summit, and then boot from the CD.

Memtest wouldn't run either, not compatible with 64bit according to Windows... Bugger!![]()

Cyber-Mav said:u trying to run memtest from windows? if so i suggest you take the pc to a repair shop cuz looks like your gonna make it worse than it is.![]()
funksteruk2 said:make sure your nforce driver is up to date aswell

Memtest is on that disk, as well as a heap of other useful apps that all run from a bootable CD. . . takes the O/S out of the equation!beano said:I'll try this too, if the memtest doesn't show anything. Cheers.![]()

Cyber-Mav said:you got to run the dos version of memtest that self boots up. main test to run is test 5 in loop mode. test 8 is good to clap command rate issues.
