Failing HDD & low level format

I've got a Maxtor 120 GB IDE drive, and the Maxtor Powermax utility says it is failing. In Windows the drive will only run in PIO mode. Other than that Windows seems to run OK.

Do you think a low level format is likely to resurrect this drive, or is it toast?

It's Maxtor. It's rubbish. Buy Hitachi/Western Digital drive. Enjoy. End of story.
