Failing MBP?

I've worked my way half way through it and it worked fine. No crashes or screen garbling.

I didn't understand the middle bit about changing attributes so that the file can't be overwritten and so when I restarted, the problem came back. It was from this bit onward I was having problems with

"Actually a gpu-switch script had "${sysfs_efi_vars}/${efi_gpu}""

Worked my way through the instructions and there's been a slight improvement. It fails to work on the first boot, restarts and then works.

1st boot: Apple Logo > Login Screen > Black Progress Bar (this takes about 1 minute) > White Screen > Restart
2nd boot: Apple Logo > Login Screen > Black Progress Bar (again this takes about 1 min) > Apple Logo and Black Progress Bar > Desktop!!!

If the AHT say the drive is fine, then get yourself a copy of Disk Warrior and run that if you haven't tried already. Make sure to repair permissions too. I know on the newer version of OSX permissions are protected by system integrity but they still may have been damaged. If it shows the Apple logo and half a progress bar then it means it found the boot.efi but couldn't load the system files.

It's gone back to the owner now. In the 2-3 weeks I had it I got progressively worse until it would only reach the desktop in about 1 in 10 attempts.
