the system is being unpredictably unstable and throwing BSOD.

ive interogated the dump file and everytime it relates to something along the lines of ntkrnlmp.exe and bccode 19, which google says is ram related.

lastnight i ran one stick of ram, memtest and prime.

memtest = 3 errors
prime = 3 of 4 cores dropped out

night before, other stick of ram, 24 hours

memtest = 2 errors
prime = all 4 cores stable

when i swapped from one stick to the next, i got bsod twice, boot fail twice and obviously further instability.

without buying more ddr3 to test with, how else can i verify this before i contact ocuk to arrange a return because i dont want to do that if its not the ram.

(ram at standard speed and standard timing)

If memtest is showing errors, send it back, it is usually reliable. I would test it with the tricore not unlocked though to make sure it isn't that.

the reason i did that was that previous diagnosis showed it was perfectly happy at 4 cores and would bsod almost randomly.

ill do that though so that ive got as much info as possible. if this was back in the old socket A days id have loads of spares around!

ok, on the second stick it did four BSOD in three days, all four cores failed prime within 24 hours. i lost track of the mem test errors, was in the hundreds.

back to the "better" stick with three cores this time.
