How does it ever get this far, unbelievable. Surely they will have been slapped with your costs and the court's costs? The sad thing is they'll probably still be making money from these tactics from all the people that follow Morba's advice

Out of interest what did you counterclaim, loss of earnings, travel, inconvenience etc.? Did you defend yourself?

Just fill in a couple of forms, pop it in the post and you're done.

I'm sure some countries involve visits to offices, queuing up, presenting your driving licence, new number plates etc etc.

We do (despite the DVLA's incompetence) have a good system.

Spain's system for example is a beaurocratic nightmare.

A friend of mine is in the same situation except he got rid of the car in question about 6 years ago, he's heard nothing from the DVLA regarding the car in years, no tax reminders or anything apparently. However now they want just over £700 off him.
