Fake memory cards

Bought a psp today.Needed a mem card went in a shop the guy sold me a 4gig for 35quid. A little too cheap i thought. walked to a centre shop. Had a look at there overpriced ones. WoW the fake was a good one.Went back to shop got me monies picked up a real one elsewhere 40 quid sorted.BEWARE PEOPLES :cool:

You can get a new Memory stick pro duo 4gb for £28.99 delivered. I would never buy memory sticks off a high street retailer as its one of the things they are always way off on pricing.

what shop was this assuming it wasnt a competitor?

and how did oyu know it was a fake? did you actually try it in the psp?

£35 for a 4gb memory stick is actually pretty over priced compared to whats on egay lol

Hey u gona make me cry?/Anyway sony have staple like lines of glue on the sides+They come with a warrentee card+The writing is a little different.the fake have the same hologram a took the fake to a few shops around.

I got one off the bay and it was a fake. Mailed the seller that it didn't work and looked like a fake to me, he sent me a genuine one with in the week and its worked flawlessly till this day. I Learnt from that mistake though.

So, did the "fake" not work properly? I was under the impression that they were all just relabelled Sandisk cards, and seeing that Sandisk manufacture Sony's cards in the first place, it wasn't that big a deal.

An easy way to tell with a PSP is to press triangle on 'memory stick' in the XMB and check out 'information'. If MagicGate is reported as unknown then its a fake. I bought a used PSP with a 2Gb stick which turned out to be fake. Works fine though. I can't tell the difference in performance compared with a legit 1Gb stick. I guess I'll find out how reliable it is in the months to come.

I bought a 2gig card off ebay over a year ago for a stupidly low price of £15.

It was and is obviously a good fake but its worked fine to this day, i back up the data regularly so if it does die i won't be so bothered but otherwise it's been suprisingly good.

they tend to be about £1-5 more nowadays

but sony do sell the 'extreme' high speed ones too etc
