Appologies for possibly being a bit late asking this question, but I know there are a number of Fallout 1 enthusiasts here.

I just got Fallout 1 a few days ago, and I'd like to know whether (as you are given a 150 day limit to get the water purifier at the beginning of the game) the game ends when these 150 days are up, or if you can carry on after that limit even though you lose this main quest?

From memory I think that the game is over if you don't get the water chip in the 150 days. Assuming you do get the water chip in time, the game carries on - there is a lot more after that!

Cheers. Shame really, because in these games I like to take my time, wander off and look under rocks to see if there's a frog under them.

it's over.

however the game is a fair bit longer than those 150 days (once you get the chip the time limit goes and the story carries on.), they're just the first half of the game :D

You can buy some more time by paying the merchants at the hub to ship extra water to the vault.

150 days should be plenty of time from what I remember, and there's lots of time to go exploring more after that :)

Yea dont worry about 150 days, you probably will have it well before that anyways.

Edit: Hope you got Fallout 2 as well.

Yep, got Fallout 2 and looking forward to it. Oh, and Fallout Tactics as well, but I'll need time to start on that one.

Did a testinstall on all of them just to see if they work on Vista, and everything's fine.

actually there is few missions if you do them it gives u extra days like 30 or more its more then enough time to finish it jsut watch out when u travel days go fast

When you get around to playing Fallout 2 i would recommend you get this!
Its a patch which fixes broken quests and bugs and adds places the developers left out due to time restraints.

Ah, that's very helpfull, thanks!

oh and don't forget to get the children patch from No mutants allowed too if that one doesn't include it.

(Brit version had them removed cause you could kill them which is against the rating system hree, this broke a few quests as there where no children to save etc.)
