Fallout 3 - a bit meh?

One thing I have really noticed recently is that my patience with games has diminished a lot. So far this game just hasn't hooked me at all. The weird thing is that I can put up with lots of dialogue in games if the rest of it really gets me interested, such as the MGS series, all the KOTOR games, and Mass Effect, but this just hasn't been much fun to play so far. Having said that, I've only played it for about 3-4 hours so I think I need to give it a bit more of a chance.

It really didn't grab me to start with either. I was close to binning it... Then something just clicked and I ended up really enjoying it.

Well i've put 30+ hours into it now and tbh it's got worse rather than better :/

My main gripe is the leveling of the outside world characters. Where as in Oblivion they started weak and grew stronger as you did in Fallout they are completely random. At first I found it challenging but now it's like I can pretty much take out a whole army on my own, which has made it feel shallow :(

I also much prefered the setting in Oblivion, where as this looks ****, and don't get me started on the character models :-/

Interesting. I've only just started playing it and it hasn't grabbed me yet either. Looks like Edge magazine got it right: 7/10. Eurogamer gave it 10/10...a perfect game? They also gave Wrath of the Lich King 10/10 too. Eurogamer = fail.

whilst I wouldn't say it's a 10 I personally would rate it higher than 7/10. This is probably why you shouldn't listen to reviews as it's opinion. There's going to be someone out there who dislikes it.

Keep in mind that it's not you doing the review at eurogamer :p

Put my copy up for auction. I will try it again, perhaps in a year or so and probably on pc when it's very, very cheap. Controls felt really clunky on gamepad to me (it's not an FPS issue, something just wasn't right)

Have ordered The Last Remnant to give a go - it will be my first ever jrpg, so keen to see how I get along with it :)

I'm entitled to my opinion just as they are to theirs. And in my opinion Fallout 3 does not deserve to be up there with the likes of Ocarina of Time as an example of a near perfect game. I know who writes the reviews but it doesn't mean I have to agree with them :p

Oh sigh.

Just given Last Remnant a try for about an hour, and it's gotta go too. My first attempt at a JRPG, and I just couldn't stand it. don't know if they all like this, but it just didn't work for me.

A loading screen every minute or so, a really irritating map system, that actually has to reload the area you are in rather than just letting you go back, a WTF story line, and every time you have to fight a baddie - yet another loading screen. Oh, and a loading screen once you finished combat for good measure. Character movement is awful and quite distracting.

Oh, and that irritating, cheesy music.....

Think I might as well just go back to Mass Effect at this rate.

That was kinda my point :p

If you'd written the review, It would have said the game was bad, They wrote it though, and said it was good. But meh lol
