Fallout 3 crashes ?

So is it normal for fallut 3 to crash randomly at least every 30 minutes ?

I've got it fully updated to patch 1.7 and i still get random crashes.

It's that bad atm that it's crashed 4 times in a row in the same town.

Unfortunately with all Bethesda games, crashing is one of the inherent 'features'

Are you running an overclock? I dounf Fo3 was very sensitive to an unstable clock.

i also have random crashes with fallout3 , latest patch and makes no difference if at stock or oc'ed cpu . getting beyond a joke now for me , ever crysis warhead runs smooth

Forgot to mention - if the game has crashed once and you load up the save file you were just playing, the odds are that you'll get more crashes as the save file is corrupted.

Try loading the game from a save before it was crashing/start again and see if it is still doing it.

So after a bit of trawling a crapload of sites with reference's to fallout 3 crashes and freezes (a lot more specifically when entering houses/confinded areas), I found this.

It's worked a charm for me almost immediately and that's even with reloading a crash save, I can't believe that after such a massive amount of time from release that this game still has so many crashes.

Cheers for this , just got the game today, patched played then started freezing more and more frequently, tried this fix and all seems ok

It's a post-apocalyptic game where technology is as dodgy as hell... they're just trying to make the experience immersive

I've never really had all these crashing problems people seem to get. I have occasionally crashed, and there is 1 location that always used to crash (near the Fort on the way to Tenpenny Tower... 1 of the hills there would always make me crash for some reason).

The only time i had MAJOR crashing problems was when i got the DLCs, which as it turns out renders your characters useless if they've reached lvl20. Not a problem though, i just started another 1 and it solved everything.

yeah I do, but somtimes it lasts for 5 minutes some times it last for hours

If you are not using the DLC then I would suggest reinstalling Fallout 3 and not patching it - it was a lot better, for me, unpatched.
