Fallout 3 without GFWL

Well, I've only had one issue wit GFWL and that was when playing Flatout 3. My internet was down, so I thought I'd get my wheel out and do some driving. Load it up, can't access my savegame because I wasn't online.

My save game is sitting right there on my hard drive, so let me play my damn game! Steam's offline mode lets you play all your games offline fine!

And that's why I have problems with GfWL. Sure, I could have made an offline profile from the beginning, but I didn't know about that at the time!

It saves it to a different location, just copy em across. Why who knows... guess it was too hard to give the game a proper save system *cough* Bethesda *cough*

Really?

Well, given my lack of internet at the time, it wasn't something I'd have figured out on my own XD
Even so, mega sucky system, which is enough reason to hate it.

Well thats the way it works with FO3 so i assume Flatout3 works the same way.

You can download the DLC to a usb stick and place them manually in the correct folder. My gaming pc is'nt connected to the internet so GFWL did'nt give me any problems. I purchased them and downloaded them on my general purpose pc, stuck them on my stick and transferred them to my main pc. All my game updates/mods etc are stored on a external hdd so i just copy them over as and when needed.

The folder is C:\Users\your name\LocalSettings\ApplicationData\Microsoft\XLive\DLC\Data

Bik files go in Data\Videos.

Worked for me with no problems in Vista 64.

People who complain about GFWL really need to get a grip

1: You can completely disable it just look in the options & disable all notifications + use an offline profile for Fallout3 then it will sit in the background forever & you will never know its there. For almost every GFWL game you can do the same if you hate it that much as unlike Steam it does not force you to be connected either as it will run forever with an offline profile if the game supports it (which is down to the publisher anyway not MS).

2: 99.9% of all GFWL issues are user related for firewall & or ports not opened properly.

3: There are some very young gamers on the official GFWL forums who can play GFWL titles with no issues whatsoever so your really embarassing yourself when you whine/moan about GFWL issues & live in one of the 26 supported countries when young people from all over the world who enjoy playing GFWL titles can do so with ease :p

Just look on GFWL official forums all the answers/tech support you need is there ;)
2: Why would I need to open ports ? I shouldn't need to, shoddy coding, I can play, update, and download fine from steam. My list of virtual servers in my router is full, I can't open more specific ports unless opening a whole massive range of em.
3: Disgrace for the gamers in the remaining countries.

The real reason most PC gamers hate GFWL is that now its starting to make it harder to steal/pirate your game's isn't it as the publishers have asked MS to tighten up DRM but even then its still less draconian than Securom or Steam ;)

Stop lying, GFWL has one major flaw which allows pirates to play online, however if I post about it on the forum I think I'll be suspended, if you really want to know then email me in trust, but in short, a pirate can play ANY of the GFWL games online without drawbacks through GFWL itself provided he does something...

What sorta mods are there for FO3 anyway? I've never actually bothered to look for any, unlike Oblivion.

Everything.

A few recommendations:

**** (brilliant overhaul mod)
Fellout (removes the annoying green hue)
Enhanced Weather
EVE (energy weapons enhancements)
Calibr (overhauls ammo, adds new ones etc)
GNR More where that came from (Adds more songs to GNR)
