From what i can tell it just looks like the textures are uncompressed. Which is why the game install is so large. But the actual IQ difference is very minute. You would only really notice with 4k and then still hard to tell if you have the texture pack at all.

That's a good comparison video. Watch at 4k and even over youtube its hard to see because they compress the video but you can still see its only a small difference.

Nope, not downloading 58GB after seeing the comparison screenshots.

It doesn't improve all textures just some textures get a few more details if you get close.

I would probably use one of the HD mods from NMM TBH - the install size will be much smaller. For many of us with SSDs,58GB is just way too much in size unless you have something close to a 1TB SSD. Even with a 480GB one, after a few games it starts to run out of space.

The comparisons I've seen on websites/videos, lol. The biggest difference comes on.... signs, literally, the biggest quality improvement is on flat textures you don't see much at all. There are marginal improvements to armour but they aren't big enough to matter. From what I can see ground textures and most buildings don't seem to change much/at all meaning the massive amount of what you see is not different and most of what is requires you to stand still and focus hard to notice any difference.

It's quite frankly laughable that they'd wait this long and make a download this big for such a ludicrously small IQ improvement, it's embarrassing when due to the modding community far far better IQ improvements are available for a far smaller install. Complete waste of time for Bethesda to put a single person to work getting this release done. Same guys could have been working on new models for new content or something instead :(

True. Maybe you get a bigger improvement in 4K but I don't know. 58 gb is way too much.
I have 750 gb SSD for games and like 250 gb free.
Not to mention that it will take me one week to download the pack.

I've downloaded and installed the texture pack and it's a minimal upgrade in graphics really. Not something to get too fussed over.

Using a I7 4790 & GTX 1060 6gb @ 1080p , settings where automatically changed to ultra.
Plays fine no stuttering , dont know what the fps was.

Last played it a year ago and cant notice anything different visually , so would not waste the 3 days it took me to download if i had played it on someone elses pc.

Took an hour and a half to install, so far has topped out just under 6Gb usage@1080p but FPS feels much the same.

Will wait until I've played some more to see what's what before getting an agrievance over a free non mandatory texture pack.:D
