fallout vegas compared to 3

I kinda enjoyed fallout 3 but 1-2 hours into fallout vegas and I was bored as hell. Seemed so quiet and slow plus indoor enviroments and baddies were same as Falout 3 pretty much.

I wasn't exactly bored by NV... it's still Fallout, and the usual exploration satisfaction is still there. But the overly complicated factional thing soon started to annoy me. I know the real world is "grey" with few black and white choices, but I think they went a bit far trying to make it so hard to find an obvious way forward.

I'd also have preferred a solid link with FO3... that character and story was one I was heavily invested in. I'd still like to play through all the DLC at some point, but I suspect that point may never quite arrive.

Overall I'd still say great game, it's just that I didn't like the story lines anywhere near as much as I enjoyed FO3.

i didn't like NV either, not enough story, when it came out NV just seemed like a half-assed attempt at a new game,

F3 though, had it on Ps3 first, loved it, bought all the DLC, then bought it on PC, then all the DLC, i still play it now, nearly two years on, modded to hell of course :p

I much preferred FO3 - I felt much more involved in the main story. NV is still a good game but it just doesn't have the same amount of atmosphere or the "epic" feel that FO3 has IMO.

The atmosphere in NV is much more 'realistic'. I like that, to be honest. I'm not a fan of taking on massive supermutants every three seconds. Get some NV mods, they make the game even better.

The map isn't nearly as good in New Vegas, one central city type thing and everything else seems to revolve around it. Fallout 3, however, you have the main DC Ruins, the outskirts, Rivet City etc and the fact that the main parts are separated by water makes it a lot better again. The story is also better in Fallout 3 imo, more of a sense of importance. The general atmosphere in Fallout 3 make it a far superior game, it feels like you have places to go, whereas NV you feel like you have nowhere to go... The only thing I like more about NV compared to F3 is the fact that you can mod weapons.

I prefer 3 a lot over NV. The over all quality and atmosphere were so much better across the whole game.

NV just felt like a crappy spin off created by a third party bought in to capitalise on the FO franchise after 3 brought it back (which it was really..).

F3 was far better, NV is a still a good game and does improve on many of F3's shortcomings but it's story was largely uninteresting and predictable, you felt just like your namesake, a courier, unlike in F3 where you were largely the one driving the plot forward.

Also the Capital Wasteland was far more interesting to explore than the Mohave.

Well patched and modded F3 is easily one of the best games ever made.

I enjoyed both. But fallout 3 was supreme. Iv completed it about 10 times. New vegas just once even with all the dlc.

Both are amazing.

FO3 came first and as such NV will be judged as not being as groundbreaking. NV is really good though once it gets going.

I did feel it got a bit samey until you started visiting the factions etc.... Keep it going IMO... you'll get into it.

Yeah - i sunk twice as much time into FO3 as i did into Vegas. I just felt as though there wasn't as much to do in NV, and the DLC for FO3 was much better.

I found the story and atmosphere much better in FO3. I couldn't take the legion seriously, and the whole Vegas thing didn't really work for me. FO3 has that 1950s post apocalyptic vibe.

Loved FO3 but didn't get on with NV. I much preferred the story of FO3 and the World. NV just didn't intrigue me like FO3 did.

Here's a question for all of you that have played FO3 and NV:

Has the graphics improved at all in NV?

I recently installed FO3 GOTY, and was appalled at the average textures graphics. Is there any mod's that improved the graphics in FO3?
