fallout vegas compared to 3

Well i haven't played 3 yet, but the graphics in NV are often quite brilliant. This is with 4x AA and 15x AF.

I liked them both, probably equally. There's some nice quests in Fallout 3, and other nice quests in NV.

I did think new vegas was a bit slow at starting though but once I got into the quests it, it was good.

NV is worse than 3 IMO.

-A lot more continuity bugs
-Fewer 'epic' set pieces
-Overpowered companions
-Atmosphere doesn't feel as good
-Plot isn't very motivating
-Hard to feel compassion for many of the characters

Always tempted to buy this on Steam, it's only £3.74!

But a few questions...

I have never played Fallout at all, will I be okay? It does seem like the game is hell of a lot the same to 3 but I have not had the experience to play it.

So is there a story from the previous game or is it a whole new thing?

NV is the first Fallout game i've played and i haven't had any trouble with the story, i don't think it follows on at all anyway. There's a few things which the long time players will get that i didn't, but nothing too vital.

I do wish FO3 would come under special deals on Steam soon. NV is under £4 yet FO3 is still 7.50.

I prefer fallout 3 because in new vegas it seemed as if all the mutants had there own areas and you would never come across a random mutant roaming the wasteland,an example would be I only ever came across supermutants in jacobs town I think It was?never out in the open wasteland like in fallout 3,in fallout 3 you would cross different mutants in all area and and come across a super mutant fighting a mirlauk for example,none of that was in Fallout Nv which disappointed me greatly.Death claws too had there own area around the quarry mine.
