I played Fallout3 and really loved it.
Couldn't help but notice that it's not possible to buy the GOTY version (ie five expansion packs) for all of £22.
The problem is that there appears to be a lot of concern about the game regularly crashing. Anyone know about this or whether there are potential fixes in the pipeline?

Nope. No more updates to Fallout 3 now that GotY is done and dusted. Bethesda will be working on new stuff.

Yeah my game crashed a few times, but to be honest with a game this huge I don't blame them for not being able to fix everything, it was the same with Oblivion as well.

They could have an army of testers and they would still not be able to fix them all, but don't let that put you off buying the game again, just make sure to save on a regular basis, since sometimes you can lose around 2 hours of play just because the Auto-save feature hasn't kicked in if you haven't entered a new area via a loading screen. Back to the point though these crashes are just random and don't happen that often in my experience anyway.

The elder scrolls engines used in Morrowind/Oboibobiobin and Fallout 3 are buggy, very complex engines from the outset so bugs are just part of the experience when dealing with Bethesda titles.

Morrowind was a scripted disaster for me, but I managed to hang on and enjoy the immersion. Obibiobin was a mess ranging from broken quests (common) to key npcs dropping dead upon seeing you (lol). Fallout though was pretty much bug free from what I recall - it was a well behaved title for the most part although I did get the 'Slow VATS lag' after the first patch.

I was disappointed by oblivion, it somehow managed to take all that was good about morrowind, throw it away, and then slap a shiny new graphics engine and leveling up monsters on what was left.

Thanks for the feedback chaps, now ordered. As it happens, I'm part way through Oblivion at the moment, and love it.

Buggy who knows...ive only played it for 15mins...managed to get myself locked in some guys room and unable to get back out because my lockpick skill was too low. He opened the door, got distracted by a kid talking to him so in i ran and then the door shut behind me! YAWN, shame too coz he had loads of guns in there! :)

I have Fallout 3 GOTY edition for the Playstation 3 and I can tell you right now that it is buggy! I'm not sure if the Xbox360 version has the same number of annoying bugs but you have been warned by me! :(

Some of the bugs I have encountered:
1. Hard Crashes - Reset button required!
2. Periodic freezes - sometimes up to 1 minute long, repeated persistence of these usually results in a hard crash!
3. Little Lamplight Caverns - The little boss kid bug! - he hid behind the gate after I had freed the children in Paradise Falls and I could not get in at all! - I had to revert to an old save game to get around this! What made it worse was that it was hours back and I literally could not have completed the game potentially as a result of it.
