Hi guys

I have a HAF X case the fan at the from of the case has a molex connector and a 2 pin connector that runs to a switch at the top of the case to turn on the LED.

I have 2 top fans that can connect to molex or the motherboard 3 pins but they do not have the 2 pin connectors on them to turn on and off the LED's.

Is there a lead/switch i could buy to connect to the 2 top fans and the front fan so that the switch on the case can control all 3 fan LED's but still leave the fans running ?

Many thanks.

Typically most LED fans are hardwired so that LEDs are always on when the fan is powered. In these cases the LEDS are powered from the same source as the DC motor in the fan itself. To switch these LEDs on and off would require some modification to the fan itself and to be quite honest will be quite fiddly unless the fan is designed in such a way to allow it. Both LED fans that I have would involve implementing a switch directly off the PCB mounted onto the fan itself. You will need to understand how the LEDs get their power from this PCB and interrupt the current flow with a switch without interrupting the current flow to the motor. Tricky if you don't know what you are doing.

You could always run an independent 12v wire and a ground wire to the LEDs by creating your own circuit, bypassing the fans own circuit.

If you want to turn them off permanently you could just snip one of the wires to each LED, or to just the first in the line depending on the circuit.

How hard or simple a mod like this is depends on how your fans are designed. Once you know this you can work the mod.

There will be no lead/switch to do this that you can buy, but you may be able to source a switchable fan to replace those that you have.

Thanks Tealc i guess i will have to live with ot for now even though it is a bit annoying sometimes, guess i could just switch back to a standard none LED fan for now.
