Hi there,

I have a fan which i want to be able to change either the speed it is running at or what voltage it is on 5/7/12.

I would like to control it outside of the case, but from the back (maybe a pci slot or something), but it could be a wire that connects the fan to the power (or something like that) and it has a dial or switch etc....

I know there are the Antec TriCool fans but i am looking to mod an existing fan.

Does this sort of thing exist?

Thanks.

there are many which allow you to choose the voltage or rmp. I beleive one is better then the other but i cant remember which method. However im not sure of any that will fit in a pci slot. But im sure you could mod it to go into the back of a case.

Don't mind a bit of modding - what did you have in mind.

I have come across the Zalman FanMate which is the sort of thing I want, but ideally I want to be able to change it from outside the case.

The fanmate comes with a longish ribbon cable, when I use one I have it hanging out of an open pci slot so I can do exactly what you say you want to do.

Id have to do some googling but I know there are little plates that have a dial you can set up to control fans. I have an older gigabyte cpu fan in my old amd set up that has a little plate that fits in a open floppy slot with a dial you control a fan with.

I just went to newegg and searched for fan con trol and there are several nice controllers that fit in a open dvd slot and control up to 4 fans. They are pretty cheap price wise to.

EDIT: Zalman actually makes a couple with 6 fan controls.

Thats what i am going to do if nothing better comes up. Only problem is that i don't think that the fan mate will switch the fan off altogether - which is a feature i want.

Thanks.

Thanks for looking but I don't have any floppy slot ors dvd slots on this case (its small), so it has to be the back that controls the fan.
