Fan controller to switch fans on/off

I don’t know if it’s a common feature in a fan controller, trying to find one to reduce a bit of noise.

I have 4 case fans and one cpu fan and would like to be able to completely switch off at least 2 of the case fans when the pc is idle.

Are there any controllers someone could recommend or is it a better idea to just reduce their power to low like 25%

Thanks

Rob

just installed one that does exactly that was looking for same feature to completely kill power to selected fans when pc is idling

works great can now web browse in peace :)

Thanks for that, the akasa 6 fan controller I bought said it could do 0 rpm but in fact it wouldn't work with my scythe kaze jyuni's at all. Gonna try the one you've posted :)

Only one i know of that is'nt to bad price wise is (best to google it)

"Nesteq FanMax 5.25" 8 Channel Fan Controller Black : FanMax 8"

It is split into 2 sets of 4, with both sets of 4 having an on off switch. So you can put fans u never want off onto bank one of headers and leave that switched on. And the fans u want to be able to turn off at times, but to bank two of headers, allowing them to be turned off easily at the touch of a button.

Edit:
Raggs ninja'ed me lol..

Yeh you could turn off all 8 if you wanted, if u look at the picture in the link raggs posted, look at the black one, there is 2 silver buttons. Those are the on off switches.

1st (left hand one) is for the first 4 fans, 2nd (right hand one) is for the 2nd set of 4 fans.
Just bare in mind the on/off controls the zones not individual fans, so you would have to decide which zone to put which fans and so on. But yes it is possible to turn all off or just 4.

Yeah I've purchased that Nesteq FanMax 8-Channel Fan Controller in Black. Been looking at other items they do and their PSU's seem very high quality.

not tried those fans myself but got it powering 8 fans of various makes hyper, coolermaster , Fractal Design & antec ,even copes with those Antec TriCool ones with the 3 speed manual switch good idea put a pain to get to the switch wacked em on full power and now slow em down with the fanmax :)

I never could take the ones with the thumb screws. 3 buttons and cycle through modes. 8 fans 3 pin or pwm and switch them all off. Just one flaw with it. 0.4A, 4.8W per channel max.

V F, does that controller allow you to manually control each fan and kill them when you need? it seemed like you have to use the temperature probes to automatically control the fans by setting the parameters

Edit - the reviewer also says
"it lost a point was neither the description nor any of the reviews make it clear you have to use the temp sensors in order to control the fan speed, it does NOT have manual fan control (well as far as I can tell, lol)"

I'd have gone aquacomputer (screenless) however given that the op has already got his...

Your only bet is to return it under DSR for a full refund, looks like a "feature" (aka annoying as hell)

Or you could attack it with a soldering iron.

The leds only flash at low rpm's on the fanmax, when set to their highest rpm's or close to it, it's a constant light, when fans are set to off, the led is off.

Can be set on/off 2x banks of up to4 fans.

I have one myself but it sits behind the door of a P-280 so on/off/blinking, it doesn't matter to me, all that counts for me is the total lack of fan noise when browsing!:p

Exact reason I've bought it to completely shut the fans down when doing anything but gaming.

Installed the Nesteq FanMax 8-Channel Fan Controller today. Works perfectly. RPM changes instantly when turning dial, no delay. On/Off switches work straight away. LED's aren't too bright and look really good I think. Couldn't ask for more for £25.
