Fan controller

Hello i'm creating my own fan controller would any mind looking at my set up and providing potential voltage switches i would need



I plan to use this set up 4 times for 4 fans so i can use this

What sort of pot are you planning on using?

Most potentiometers are rated at 1/4 watt or less so will burn out if you shove 0.3A at 12v through them (potentially almost 4 Watts of current).

The high wattage wire wound rheobus types are hellish expensive.

What you'd need is a transistor to drive your load and the potentiometer would set the amount of voltage the transistor would allow the fan to have.

I'm not really sure that where my knowledge fails, I'd prefer a prebuilt one but finding one in white is very hard

There are several ways to make a fan controller and probably the easiest is to use a linear regulator. You could use a LM317T but would lose around 1.5 to 2v off your top speed voltage. The circuit for this is just a LM317T, a suitable potentiometer, 1 resistor and maybe a capacitor for luck.

Why not just buy a fan controller? Cannibalize, mod or just use as is.

Yes pretty much any controller with dials can be painted if you take reasonable care.
