I have a Coolermaster Centurion RC-532 case, and am running a 6300 clocked currently to 2.4ghz. My case sits in my computer cabinet so the ambient temperature and air flow is not great.

I have room for 2 120mm fans in my case a front intake and a rear exhaust, i have been given 2 akasa ambers and 2 Noctua NF-S12 1200RPM, which is going to to be the best? they both look similar on paper but have heard that the noctua suffer from low air pressure problems.

I have had Ambers and Noctua's and I prefer the Noctua's. Superb fans, I got one this morning infact not sure where I'm going to put it but should be a good addition. Yate Loons pop up quite a lot on these forums and are apparently very quiet and excellent for airflow.

My wife would do her nut if i started cutting holes in the cabinet, belive me i've thought about doing that but I prefer a quite life, get enough ear ache as it is about my constant tinkering and upgrading of the pc.

I think i'll run both sets for a few weeks and see which ones keep the case consistently at the lowest temperature.

Wife says "NO", PC says "BOOM"! :D

Man has to buy a new (expensive) PC (with immense graphics display power) - Man shows receipt, wife says "DAMN", man says "Toldyouso".

problem solved.

Amended for truth.

Been there before. :D

My GF is quite good really with my upgrades, that aside - we aren't married so it isn't quite the same!! WJA got the new chipset cooler and fans ;)

Then I guess you ought to write them up like the CPU cooler. I haven't seen a test of the Northbridge cooler and I actually believe what you write, so that should be interesting. As for the fans - I'd like to see a new benchmark for the common man. Something like Core temperatures of the E6600 using the Noctua with fan A after 15 minutes of Orthos, compared to fan B after 15 minutes of Orthos. As long as you note the room temperature I would say that would be an OK 'real world' test. What do you think?

No - they're usually quite reasonable until they get you married.

I've only just bought this rig i'd rather not have to go trough that again. And any way i doubt i'd get permission to release the funds to do another new build, it took lots of persuasion, flowers and crapper cleaning to do the last one ;)

Will be reviewing the items soon as we hit next week, going to overclock CPU with stock NB cooler fitted and then with Noctua NB cooler and CPU at stock speeds and then overclocked for a comprehensive review. Trouble with the fan review is that I don't actually have anything but S12's! What I might do is order some Yates for this test or something!
