Fan noise/speed on RX 6700

I've just updated my 1060 to a RX 6700 and its working out pretty well, obviously a big jump in performance.

I am noticing the louder fan noise though when the card is working hard. Plus the 6700 has 2 fans and my 1060 had 1.
I'd say once it hits about 1400rpm it starts getting noticeable (not sure if its purely the rpm, or if its a slight 'whine' at this speed), and it looks like its max is 1800rpm.

I was running it in New World on max settings and getting around 105-120 fps.

I've set it to a quiet profile here:

But should I customise it so that it cant hit 1600rpm, or is that risky?

I've not even looked into the undervolt/overclock side of things.

You can see the temps and wattage it hit here:

I've attached some logging from Adrenalin.

Maybe I should just turn the game volume up! :)

As a cheat you can set a frame cap. Say 90 fps. This will reduce temps and fan speed. You can play about with fan curves. If the gpu gets to hot it will throttle down.

turn off zero fan. my 6600xt the fan go on and off at about 60c but starts at 40% its just stupid.
with zero fan off you cant hear the fan but it drop idle temps by 30c and the fan ramps slower from 25%, it doesn't just jump in at 40%.
the gpu runs quieter under all loads

I would also suggest putting the low speed fan on to keep the temps cooler for longer to stop the need for the higher ups as much. I know that doesn't really help you, nor do the others that say lower fps or voltage, your problem is with the fan noise - unfortunately there are so few sold it's hard to get a good eye on if this is a fault of the card or a fault with your card itself. I've not heard anything bad about them so far so it might be that yours is a bit dodgey?

probably a downside to having a case with a pretty much solid front, crap airflow so gpu fans spinning up to max to try not to die

I've now had chance to try more games including Wolfenstein Old Blood, Doom, Age of Empires 4, Guardians of the Galaxy, Iron Harvest, and a few others, all seem happy at 144fps in Ultra (GoG and Iron Harvest come down to about 90-110).
Noe of them seem to push much past 80 degrees or spin the fan as much. So I'm going to try tweaking some settings in New World.

I just gave Doom Eternal a quick blast and recorded it, annoyingly though it doesnt record the Adrenalin overlay stats (except the steam one in top right), so all its showing is a solid 144fps in the recording.
I'll upload it anyway. NSFW obviously: https://youtu.be/hQoPKxUPyXM

Here is the Trixx screenshot shortly after though. You can see where I stopped playing on the far left where the hotspot drops.

It was about 70 temp, with 80ish hotspot.
This is with all set to stock.

Here is the Trixx

Yer the Trixx is much better cooler, always been on of the best cooler since 290x days

Plus the 6700 has 2 fans and my 1060 had 1
New GPU's pull a load of power comparing it to a 8(i think) year old can means nothing

based on the graphs you have provided i see no problem from the GPU.. you may need a better fan setup in the case pulling more cold hair in. can we see a photo of your case and a full spec, what cpu cooler do you have and what CPU temps do you see in gaming load. it could just be a case of the case is a hot box. the case you have is not the best i had the model before your and it was a hot box, front fans was pointless.

i had 2 top fans dragging air in and rear fan exhausting but they had to run high RPM to keep the system cool. the front fans just cycled the air in the case and did pull air in

New World managed to single-handedly end a load of 3090s, so it is pretty normal :D

In case its useful, the Trixx software didnt identify the 6700, so Sapphire updated it to 8.7.11 (the one on the site is 8.7.0 at the moment)
Its here: https://mega.nz/file/OdIGzTJK#n9aqS4JK5-nckD_b3_5UR7HLsdUv9oOXGCV5ruj36I8

My fans are:
1x Scythe SCNJ-5000 Ninja 5 CPU cooler - 120mm
1x Scythe Kaze Flex 120mm PWM Case Fan, 1200 RPM
2x ARCTIC P14 PWM PST - 140 mm Case Fan, Speed: 200-1700 RPM

Typically gaming temp are around 50 to 60 I think. Here is Doom after about 5-10 mins.

Perfect advice.
I tend to run things at maximum quality as possible but always cap FPS. Don’t play anything that requires high FPS, and despite my monitor allowing 165, usually I cap to smooth 90FPS.
Some GPUs have very aggressive fan curves, which you can adjust manually for better results.
But voltage is your best bet.

Depending on the brand, or luck, you could net better thermals remounting the cooler. But as should be under warranty, you may not fancy such a task.
When I had my Sapphire RX6800XT Pulse, the card would boost great, but delta from core and hotspot would be 30C some times.
First thing I did was tighten the screws on the backplate as they’re the ones holding the cooler in place. Doing carefully to don’t mark the screws and the manufacturer denies a warranty, despite you fixing their incompetence.
“Issue” with GPU now is that almost all will boost very high, no much room for overclock, but also feeding more voltage than really required, as boost isn’t fine tuned from GPU to GPU.
Using AMD I was able to undervolt a little bit, just enough to drop temperature and getting slightly more performance. You can undervolt a bit more and sacrifice 1 to 5% performance but drop temperature quite a bit. Up to you want your priorities are.
Nvidia I haven’t played much with voltage.
Was using a TUF 3080 12GB and the card was very cool and quiet. Changed for a SuprimX and is even cooler and quieter.
