Fan splitters

Is it safe using fan splitters to power multiple fans? I would presume there is a safe limit.

My system would have

Two 12cm exhaust fans
Three 12cm intake fans
One 8cm top exhaust fans
12cm and 14cm CPU fans.

What's difference between three pin and four pin fans? The two CPU fans I have are three pin. Is the fourth pin actual rpm sensor telemetry?

check your mobo manual for how many amps each fan header can supply
most cheap mobos have 1A headers, mid-high end boards usually have 2A headers
AIO pump headers are usually 2A but speed control can be minimal or non-existent on these headers

you're looking for the peak current draw on the fan specs (usually also known as the start up current) as these will be well in excess of the operating current
if you're using high performance fans, the start up current can be as high as 0.4A...so even 3 of these fans can burn out a 1A header

If you're using a splitter that has a separate sata/molex power input then all the above do not apply, obviously

I can't see any maximum current rating in the motherboard manual

At most I'd run use a Y splitter (two fans off one) The motherboard has five fan outputs so I'd need a couple of Y splitters

you want this, to power the 4 pin(pwm fans)

That looks useful thanks, so two of those should be plenty, and any left over can go direct to motherboard.

I'll be buying new case fans 5xcm 12cm I fancy going from stock coolermaster fans to newer quieter design thinking five of these

coolestermaster stacker 810

amd ryzen 7 7600

noctua d14, so 12cm and 14cm noctura fans on that HSF
unsure of GPU at least 6800XT, will test out my old 480 and see what fps I get.

tbf at the price and in your case i think the Pure Wings are really good.
there just not for ITX systems, and if you look around they do 8cm models too.

I'm sure i paid about £25 a fan when they first came out. for a 10er there good

they have high speed models (so do noctua) but I don't want it too loud

Would be great if they was a high output single method, rather having lots of splitters, just to make cable management and clutter. ...oh they do exist but not cheap!

just keep an eye on the minimum fan speed, thats what you will use most of the time when the system is at idle.
have high RPM's in the bank for if you ever need them is good but if the minimum fan speed is somthing like 800rpm is never going to run truly silent.

on the be quiet site they say the 1600rpm model can spin down to 300rpm before stalling, thats a very good speed range

depending on how cheap you want to go the P12 and P12Max are stunning fans that move some air but over about 1000rpm there loud
i have p12's on my radiator at about 600 RPM and they do a good job

i had one that would not work, i was told i needed to find an old PC to do a farmwear update for my AM4 system to detect the controller so i returned.
but there is a lot of people using this type of controller that will tell you there amazing

Just seen

Akasa FLEXA FP5S

That branches off onto five. Not sure if PSU cable is molex only or molex and sata mixture if the former that could mean I don't need the extra molex only cable

Just checked it's sata cable only and molex only. S
