Fancy a step into the future

get two spaceships. Get each one to go more than half the speed of light. Fly them towards each other and relative to each other they have both broken the speed of light

No, they haven't.

why would they want to come here? They will all be at interesting times.

To learn about how the world used to be first hand? I don't know about you, but I'd jump at the chance to go back and observe the dinosaurs, or the ancient Greeks.

I thought the gandfather paradox pretty much disproved time travel? at least going to the past

they say if you do go back and kill your grandpap the universe splits into a parallel one and 2 existences are made real, one universe were you dont kill and another where you do.

its all ******** because these physicists are just playing around with ideas, theorys, doesnt mean it can happen. its a theory.

but time travelling into the future is perfectly possible by travelling the speed of light for 8 mins and returning to earth were 80 years has passed.

thinking of it we are all time travelling right now, but at the rate of 1 second per 1 second

no i mean right here. like today. What would attract them right now? Nothing

Theoretically I think any crazy technology future people would have the ability to peruse the past undetected and undetectable.

Perfectly possible? Let's see you travel at the speed of light then. :p

Besides, that theory relies completely upon relativity being proved, and as it stands (and I may be wrong), relativity is just a theory, isn't it? Therefore, you're treating a theory, even if it is widely accepted, as factual. Which it isn't.

No idea what point I was trying to make there. :)

And how havent they exactly? If they have both gone over half the speed of light then you ad the to speeds and it comes to greater than the speed of light

They're faster than the speed of light combined, but not relatively. Neither are faster than the speed of light at any time, they're both just travelling at just over half.

Today? No idea. But a date within this time era, almost certainly of interest. The wars in Iraq, the terrorist incidents. Historians of the future may be fascinated to learn how the war unfolded etc

Just think of how many different events there have been in the past that would be worthy of close observation...damn, it would probably take several long lifetimes to see it all.

If time travel is possible people would have come back to this time and changed stuff.

But how would we know if things had changed? :p

I'm just playing the devil's advocate here btw, I've already stated my opinion on the subject. :o
