Fanless cpu cooler

Hey guys i need some advice please ...

i recently bought a new TJ06 Silverstone case & fanless silverstone cooler - to use in conjunction with the wind tunnel that the TJ06 has -

i just wanted your views on fanless coolers ( or are they supposed to have fans and the fans are bought seperately ? )

playing WOW i crash every 10 mins or so - when i reboot i get CPU Temp error message .. i know the answer is obviously overheating - just needed your ideas ... i thought that buying this fanless cooler would cut out noise but maybe ive just misunderstood the whole thing .

Try using an application such as fanspeed to monitor the temp of the CPU when its idle in windows.

Then you can see if its running hot and if so how hot.

Did you use a decent thermal compound when you seated the CPU originally? If so is it possible that you could have used too much? As daft as it sounds its a common thing that people get wrong and can send temps sky high.

I have no experience with your cooler though, nor have I read any reviews so I cant comment on its overall effectiveness.

I would just consider that tunnel to be a method to get the hot cpu air out of the case. I dont think it would have the same effect as a fan on a heatsink.

Personally I would slap a normal fan cooler on it (one that fits into the tunnel) and sleep well in the knowledge that the tunnel is at least preventing the hot cpu air from entering the rest of the case.

Fanless coolers are ok if they are designed with a certain cpu in mind.

The cooler you are talking about probably won't work at all well in a tunnel like your case has, something like a ninja would be far better as it sticks out further and the fins are facing the right way to let air through. Put a fan on it, see if it fixes your problem.
