I have not long finished building my first pc and the only thing left to do is install a new graphics card as I am currently using Nvidia 6800 out of my old Dell8400.
I have seen a fanless Nvidia 7600gt 256MB DDR3 PCI-E Core Clock Speed : 560MHz / Memory: 1400MHz as low noise is important as I leave my pc running through the night in my bedroom.
I use my pc mostly for gaming ie:- F.E.A.R.,BOILING POINT.
What are the thoughts on performance and reliability of fanless.
Also would I have to install more fans to the side of the case for heat extraction.

Motherboard: Asus P5LD2 Deluxe
Pentium D 3.4
1GB Memory
Zalman CNPS9500-LED
120mm Xilence (front)
2x 80mm Xilence (side)
92mm Acoustifan C-series (rear)

Fanless cards are MORE reliable and no you would'nt need more cooling in your case to handle it. The 7600GT should perform at the same level or faster than the 6800 too.

What he said ^^^

I wouldn't recommend overclocking it though as it might get a bit toasty, especially if using more volts.

Seeing as you already have good case airflow (in through the front, out through the back) then it should be fine :)

Thanks thats what I wanted to hear :D
6800 is pretty noisy now after 18 months.
Clean out the fan! Dust causes loud noises over time. But then that might be pointless considering you're getting the 7600gt

I've tried cleaning the fan but with no effect must be the bearings.
So out with old and in with the new.(When I have enough pennys that is) :D

I know it's pointless but you can take off the covering sticker on the fan and drop a bit of oil in there. Works a treat!

I must also say that speed of reply to questions is remarkable.
I have posted on other forums months ago and with no reply so cheers guys ;)

I don't normally reply this fast, it's just that my gaming rig is down so i have to resort to helping people with computer hardware related problems :p

never thought of that my CPU fan is very noisey even after spending have an hour with the hoover
