Hey guys, just built a new machine and have a Corsair H60 cpu cooler and a few of Zalward Golf 2 fans, is there any way to shut them up?? My temps are 16degrees at idle but my new rig sounds like its about to take off, not to mention my legs are now freezing.

Much appreciated for any advice :)

To use the PWM function of your motherboard you will need 4 pin fans. You may be able to control 3 pin fans using voltage control if your motherboard supports it.

Either hes sitting outside or i think Coretemp or RealTemp might be needed there :) My monitoring software that came with my mobo tells me my is running at 3 degrees atm.

Well it was 16degrees earlier according to CoreTemp, but it was approaching zero degrees outside so the air temperature in the room was a bit lower than normal. Running a torture test at the minute on 4.2GHz and its maxing at 47degrees.

Edit - Its a 3570k by the way.

Its just giving ya dodgey reading at idle i guess, ya load temps seem normal and theyre the only ones that count really.

Could i ask whats stopping ya from just plugging the fans into your system fan headers on ya mobo and turning them down in your bios?

It could be correct, the house was freezing earlier :p Ill give the torture test another 10 minutes and see what it says the idle temps are now. However it wasnt overclocked earlier.

Mainly the fact that the bios for this new mobo is weird and wonderful and I havent explored it much yet apart from a bit of fiddling with the clock speeds :p Ill have a better look later and see if I can change the voltages, still would like to get the fan controllers though so I can change fan speed easily.

Yeah i use both on mine, i use fan controllers for my rads, and the mobo for all my other fans including the PSU ones, i have some PWM fans and some 3pin so i just set the mobo to use voltage instead of PWM and silent profile and it works great for all my fans.

Do you have a thermometer somewhere in the house you could use to find ambient temperature?

If that sensor is correct, i will use my custom loop to choke the nearest H60 owner, then steal it from him.

Here you go :)

No thermometer im afrad, but its "comfortable" not really warm not really cold im sitting here in a tshirt.

I can just see your desk now, Mouse, Keyboard, Ice Scraper.....

Lol nope perfectly pleasant in here, not an icicle in sight. My fans are running at full whack the whole time though, and the side of my case is currently off so im sure thats a large factor.

Edit - Oh and I also dont have a Graphics card chucking out any heat at the minute, just running stock HD4000.
