no,

if noise is an issue just run the fan at 7v

i have looked at doing this, however in the diagrams i have seen my wires look totallu different!

do i need to get new connectors in order to do this?

thanks

Or hook it up to a fancontroller like the sunbeam rheobus. Isnt the fan quiet enough for you at 12v anyway? Just remembered that you can use speedfan also to control its speed depending on mb. you wont notice much difference tho!!

One quick question instead of making a new htread, if you buy a fan, does it matter whcich brand it is? whats the diff between 4 pin and 3 pin connectors, which one is easier/simpler

3pin is better imo as you can always use an adapter to conect to a molex.

And of course the brand matters, some £1 cheap thing will generally not be as good as a more expensive fan. Yate Loon are about the best.
