You do know the differenced between a male and female?


3 pin connect to the motherboard, 4 pin molex connect to psu. For lower speed/lower current fans and if you want to control speed, get 3 pin. For case fans and other high speed/high current fans that'll stay at 100% go for 4 pin molex.

if there something i can just conenct it to on the motherboard or do i need some kinda adapter

and 2nd, say if like a wanna get a fan, and i find a good akasa one, will i have to have an akasa case for it to fit, or doesnt it matter
 
To connect a 4pin molex to the mb yes you need an adapter.

No it doesnt matter what make ofcase just depends on sizes of fan it takes 80/92/120mm
