Been given a kindle voyage for Christmas, so I would like some recommendations in the fantasy genre. Can be anything in that field along as its a good book.
So far I have:
The farseer trilogy robin hobb
The tawny man trilogy Robin Hobb
The Emperor series conn iggulden
Conqueror series conn iggulden
Terry pratchett the colour of magic

I only read them recently, but really enjoyed the Robin Hobb books you've mentioned there.

Two books that I've really enjoyed are the Stephen Donaldson "Mirror of Her Dreams" series. (For that matter, I love the Thomas Covenant books, but they're quite a major undertaking! If you haven't read Donaldson before, I'd start with my suggestion.)

Shannara serise by Terry Brooks
Chronicles of Thomas Covenant by Stephen Donaldson
Dark Tower series by Stephen King
The Great & Secret Show, Everville, Cabal by Clive Barker
Dune series by Frank Herbert
Dark Elf trilogy & Icewind Dale trilogy by R.A. Salvatore

A few (some already mentioned):
- Patrick Rothfss; The Name of the Wind
- David Eddings; The Belgariad, The Malloreon, Elenium/The Tamuli
- Peter V Brett; Demon Trilogy
- Raymond E. Feist; Magician (Riftwar Saga)
- Brent Weeks; Night Angel Trilogy
- Jim Butcher; The Dresden Files, Codex Alera series

The first 3 of the Peter V Brett Demon wars books are all between 99p and £1.99 in the amazon sci-fi and fantasy 12 days of kindle list. Raymond E Feist's Magician and Blood Song by Anthony Ryan are also in there for £1.49 each, well worth a read, especially at those prices.

Everyone knows what I'll suggest but I'll do it anyway;

Malazan Book of the Fallen

Could also try;

Joe Abercrombie
Gentleman ******* series (forgot the author)
Mark Lawrence

- Jim Butcher; The Dresden Files, Codex Alera series

Lots of great ones mentioned but I have to second these as slightly less known. The Dresden Files i put off reading for a long time because they looked a little...mainstream? Maybe filler-y. But I read one, then two., then suddenly I'd read them all. Absolutely hooked, couldn't stop! Great characters, really interesting lore and story. Codex of Alara I enjoyed too, a pretty different fantasy series, more 'standard' but a really good read.

Is it unpopular to recommend the A Song of Ice and Fire series(Game of Thrones) already? :p

Seriously, if you haven't already read it, it's amazing. Even if you've watched the show, read the books. Dont care how cringe-worthy you find this phrase, but it applies here - THE BOOKS ARE BETTER! lol They really are.

Anyways, I can also vouch for The Name of the Wind. Rothfuss has a great writing style and the story and characters are.....unique. Nobody everybody loves it, but I think it's pretty special.

Will also vouch for Gentleman ******* series from Scott Lynch. The first book(Lies of Locke Lamora) is the best, but it's still a fun tale to finish up.

Also enjoyed the first two books of The Stormlight Archive(Brandon Sanderson). The Way of Kings is the first book, and it takes a while to build up, but the payoff is worth it if you ask me.

The Wheel of Time, Robert Jordan

Admittedly I haven't been able to get past book 4 yet, but I'm not an avid reader.

Being lazy and copy/pasta my suggestions from another thread.

Not a series, but fantastic stand alone sci fi book: Andy Weir - The Martian
Steven Erikson - Malazan series 10 books.
Glen Cook - Black Company. This is like 10 books long
Terry Goodkind - Sword of Truth. Also many books long.
Robin Hobb - Assassin + Liveship books.
Stephen King - Dark Tower.
Brandon Sanderson - Mistborn Trilogy. Dystopian world where allomancers can ingest metals to give them special abilities. Same guy who finished the last WoT books .
Joe Abercrombie - First Law trilogy.
Mark Lawrence - Broken Empire trilogy.
Peter F. Hamilton - Night's Dawn trilogy (futuristic sci-fi but fantastic!).
Brent Weeks - Night Angel trilogy.
Raymond E.Feist - Enjoyed Riftwar trilogy + Empire trilogy so far.

Also enjoying (but not yet finished being written):

Peter Brett - Painted Man series
Anthony Ryan - Raven's Shadow
Brandon Sanderson - Stormlight archives
George R.R. Martin - Game of Thrones books. They were fantastic reads so far.
Jim Butcher- Dresden Files

Agree with this, I read one a day on my holiday, real compulsive reading with some great character development.
