Fantasy Football 09/10

Fletcher doesn't get a lot of points for goals and assists though (Although he did get a rare assist this weekend) as a rule of thumb you don't really want defensive midfielders.

Based on current values, he's the third highest points scorer of midfielders costing £5.5m or less. I'm not saying he's a bargain or anything like that but there are certainly players performing far worse than him. Even players who one might expect to get goals and assists are being outscored by him (SWP, Dunn, Petrov, Ireland, Gamst Pederson, Nani, Scholes, Rosicky, Nasri, Deco, Cole, Modric etc etc all cost a lot more but are being left trailing in his wake)

I'm genuinely surprised by that (although quite a few of those have had injuries a lot, one of Fletcher's advantages is he's rarely injured.) I suppose he's a better choice than most defensive midfielders. I prefer getting cheaper defenders and getting slightly more expensive offensive midfielders myself.

Its about Arshavin did something. Shocked that he didn't put away the great chance in the first half vs Chelsea.

There has been times where I've really thought about cashing him but there always that thought in the back of my mind that he could provide a special performance like he did against Liverpool at Anfield by scoring 4 :p

Problem is with Arsenal's run of tough fixtures a lot of managers have offloaded him so his value has plummetted by £0.5m in recent weeks.

Sometimes with transfers you have to weigh up whether it is worth keeping faith with a player when you know that a lot of others are going to be selling and his value is certain to fall; personally I don't think the fluctuations have that much of an effect (£0.1m is only 0.1% of your budget afterall) but still plays on the mind a bit.

As I mentioned earlier though the transfer system is a bit of a joke anyway, RvP has been out more than half the season and won't return until April at the earliest, yet he is still worth more than he was at the start of the season. Compared to Arshavin who's value has gone through the floor since Jan 20th, despite 4x as many people still having him compared to RvP.

Really hard to pick a captain this week...MU and Chelsea have tough games...so dunno about rooney/drogba...and arsenal tough game too..

Man city playing twice to tempting to transfer in Tevez and put as captain, but they are on bad form recently, esp tevez.

REALLY tempted to swap Anelka for Rodelleaga and put him as captain...Wigan playing twice at home..maybe worth a gamble..hmmmmmmmmmmmm

27 points thus far - 12 from Adebayor as captain, 6 from Tevez, 5 from the Zog, and 4 from Etherington, with 7 to play including Rooney :D

Completely forgot to do anything with my teak for this gameweek, meant to put Tevez as Captain...and get rid of Rodallega for Zamora...DOH!!!

Got Rooney as Captain so hoping he'll bang in three or four and a few assists...

This is my first season doing fantasy football (hence not joining the OCUK league) and I'm finding it's pretty steep learning curve! Currently in 8th out of 17 in a league with work colleagues and could do with putting together a run of decent results...and paying more attention to my team so I don't miss chances to sort my team out.

Difficult week this week. Man U/West Ham have two games (following week Man U/WH/Aston Villa/Hull are not playing). What do people think of the following team?

Obvousily not playing Diaby/Ehterington/Faye

Not sure if I should go with Zamora or Aggy.

needed a godo week and thanks to rooney i got one, 103 points. last week was poor with only 39 points.

still slowly climbing the table and up to 68th now.

my new team, after a couple of changed for the following weeks.

69 for me last week, never a bad number :D

Made a few changes this week, gone for:

Hart
Carragher - Bikey - R Johnson - Terry
Kuyt - Benayoun - Lee
Drogba - Fletcher - Bent

Bit different :)
