Fantasy Racers F1 2010 - anyone interested?

crazy people going for the 45 mill bracket

Flexible budget cap is totally the smart way to go btw, but I just CBA chopping and changing drivers every week (they have dynamic pricing depending on performance).

To add to that - it's only better if you're smart/lucky enough to manage it well, since your team value (and therefore spending power) can do down as well as up!

no one knows who will be the fastest teams come race day so its a bit gamble to not be able to change them.

With the flexible option you pick whoever you think will be quick within a £40m budget cap.

After the first race, their performance may be subpar (or even worse). Their rating dips, and so does their value.

You're forced to either hold onto drivers and pray they start performing (all the while losing even more value). Or you sell them at a depreciated price, forcing you into a position where you have less money to buy the better-performing drivers whose value has gone up.

I'm not saying the fixed-team is the better option (quite the opposite in fact), but I am saying you're going to need skill/thought and ++ luck to manage it correctly.

Hence why I'm not going for it :D

Okay, I'm in. My team is "Arse Racers" :D

It seems to me that the low-end drivers are really over-priced for the amount of points they could bring in. Hell, you LOSE five points for the guy being eliminated in Q1!

The top drivers (Ferrari, McLaren and Red Bull) should cost more, and the lowest end ones should be £3 - £5M at most. IMO.

I've changed my name to just my username.

Here is my line up, probably going to fail.

Fernando Alonso Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro 12.50m
Lewis Hamilton Vodafone McLaren Mercedes 12.50m
Nico Hulkenberg AT&T Williams 8.00m
Timo Glock Virgin Racing 7.00m

It's not really doing much harm by stating an initial lineup, though :)

I mean, there are only 4 strategies when it comes to picking a first-race lineup with the flexi-40 scheme:

1. 3 x 12ers
2. 2 x 12ers plus 2 x 8ers
3. 1 x 12er plus 3 x 8ers
4. 5 x 8ers.

Besides, everyone else will have their own ideas as to which drivers to pick, so there's little to be lost by showing your hand. The only downside is committing early when something may happen in the next two weeks.
