No, they're rubbish.
As a home user, they rust after a few weeks and stay sharp for a rubbish amount of time.
Also tips have a habit of breaking.

and since very few users of these particular knives are going to be either "michelle" starred chefs or for that matter 3 AA rosette winning chefs i am sure they are perfectly fine for the lay person.

As I said, as the average home user, I've found them to rust very easily, chip and lose their sharpness quickly. Very cheap I know, but maybe spend a bit more rather than replace the set every 6 months!

Try and balance them on a finger, where the blade meets the handle. You want them to balance perfectly.
