Theakston's Old Peculiar and Badger Tangle Foot beer. Are they any good?

Also, do they need to be chilled or drank at room temperature?

Ta :)

Assuming that anyone can answer the question: I find Tanglefoot to be a bit tasteless. It's perfectly drinkable and I wouldn't shun it, but equally I wouldn't buy it specifically. Old Peculier has a bit more 'oomph' to it, and I think it's a bit more full-bodied. Again, I wouldn't appear in my top twenty but there's certainly nothing ostensibly bad about it.

As for the warm/cool/cold argument, I err on the side that says you should drink the beer at the temperature you prefer it at! You'll taste it more if it's warmer, but it will be more refreshing if it's cooler. Saying that, I think it would be odd to leave it in the fridge for a long period of time before drinking it - that's something you want to do to lager. A bit of chilling is fine, though.

From working with the mentioned beers over the christmas period last year I would say they are 2 of the more popular sellers, sold out almost every day in the lead up to christmas. This can mean one of 2 things, they are either really really nice, or quite a common tasting drink I think.

As for chilled/room temp, I think they are meant to be left un-chilled, but I personally prefer beer chilled.

Drink both at room temperature or just slightly below. If you chill them then you don't get the full taste.

OP is much overrated in my opinion. It has quite a distinctive and slightly unusual flavour and it's become one of the fashionable ales to drink but I've never been that keen on it. Tanglefoot is a bit bland. You're going from one end to the other in terms of flavour.

If you're looking for a rather splendid beer in a bottle, nip to your local Morrisons and get some Wells Banana Bread Beer. Strange name, fantastic flavour.

Feek will tell you to keep your beer at room temperature (edit see). Personally i prefer it chilled so really you may have to try it out.

Apart from those beers i also highly recommend McEwans Champion No.1.

I found it has the common problem of strong beers, I think it's far too sweet.

Thank you Mr Feek and all.

I think I'll go for some slight chilling. Not cold, but cool.

Wells Banana Bread Beer eh? Sounds yummy

I didn't even know such a fantastic beer existed!

Do they sell it anywhere else Feek? I'd love to try that.

Tesco sell it too. It really is a delicious beer, I was very impressed with it.

Morrisons and Tesco are the ones I know of, and yes it does have a superb light banana flavour :)

I'll have a quick gander when I go down to pick up some bread then :D

I had that award winning Badger Ale (tastes like raspberry) from Tesco once, was quite refreshing. Definately a summer ale I think.
