FAO Feek - beer question

Don't get me wrong, it's quite a nice beer but every time anybody mentions Scottish beer, the name Deuchar's pops up.
I Just happen to think there are many better Scottish beers.
I chose girly alcopop beer out of a bottle in preference to Deuchar's, I was that unimpressed by it.

first two people ive ever heard not liking the deuchars!

there are some quality scottish ales, black isle brewery is a personal favourite.

I can not believe my best m8 is asking for beer drinking tips on the interweb. We need to talk. ;)

Oi! People on the internet have real counterparts at the other end who can consume beers. Thus he has accessed the widest audience he can to quickly gain some information.

I cant believe you still spell mate with an eight... <snigger> :p ;)

Not a huge ale drinker my self, but all wetherspoons atm are doing their beer festival, which means lots of different ales at 1:19 a pint (around me) some have been very nice, sme not so nice :D.

But it could be a good place for you to try feek.

/sorry to sound like typical bar staff :)

Less strokes on the keyboard = more drinking time.

I am a member of the AAA he should consult with me first ;)

If you're looking for a rather splendid beer in a bottle, nip to your local Morrisons and get some Wells Banana Bread Beer. Strange name, fantastic flavour.

Its strange that you say that... Before moving to Australia that was the last beer I had (you dont get beer over here :() and it is definately one of my favourites! I was a fan of St Georges Ale aswell!

Anybody in London interested in wierd and wonderful beers, I can heartily recommend the Bierodrome either on Kingsway (just out of Holborn tube station) or else there is one in Clapham. They server close to a hundred different beers and ales. One of which is a banana one, and one which I found particularly delicious was a strawberry flavoured one... it was even pink in colour! It was a dangerous drink as it's about 5-8% and you can easily down a few without realising how strong they are! Bloody delicious though. The banana one was intruiging.

Ah yes - our office happens to be right there :D

I did four bottles of various ales last night and had a scotch egg.

I love the effects that these things have. With a single expulsion of gas this morning I was able to empty the lower floor of the house!

You should try Badgers - Golden Glory.

An award-winning 4.5% ABV premium ale, well balanced with distinctive bitterness and a delicate floral peach and melon aroma.

An absolutely stunning Ale - one of my favorites.

Also try and get your hands on some classic "Old Speckled Hen" and also "Black Sheep Ale"

Plus :) Youngs Waggledance, all of those are amongst my top favorites :)

*shudder* Each to their own - when I mentioned hating 'flavoured' ales earlier in the thread, THAT was the beer I was specifically thinking about - it's loathsome. The added 'aroma' can also be tasted and makes for a nauseatingly sickly pint.

From the selection in your pic I'd opt for Summer Lightning first, then Pride, then Black sheep. Speckled Hen gives we nuclear hangovers (no idea why) so I steer clear of it now - not fond of Bishops Finger, too heavy - and I don't class Newcastle Brown as a proper real ale - too chemically and fizzy, horrid.

Btw - Sainsbury's had Wychwood White Wych (golden summer ale) on special this week, think it was £1.59 or £1.69 for a big (660ml) bottle, very nice stuff. Just a shame they don't do any 'buy 4' offers, cos our shopping bill goes through the roof when we go there instead of Morrisons.

What kind of scotch egg? There are several varietys, Scotch eggs were traditionally a Scottish breakfast or picnic food, designed to be eaten fresh. But you realise Scotch eggs sold at convenience stores and service stations are generally made with very cheap meat and eggs.

I have yet to discover any made with any extra flavourings but one cant help but wonder what a Strawberry or Banana flavoured scotch egg may taste like.
