FAO Filter users

Something I've noticed on these forums is that a lot of people use filters. I'm a traditionalist at heart and I know nothing about filters or using them. I was wondering if someone wouldn't mind posting up some links to literature on filters, which to use and when, what each filter does (with possible examples) etc?

Nope - just a long exposure, a couple of bowens flash heads and abit of PP
