Nick,

i saw recently that you fitted rear sun blinds to your 330d, wouldnt mind something similar for my 530i, is there much to it, and what was the cost?

did you just do rear windows?

Hi Cyrus,

They look darker depending on the angle, but it's quite hard to photograph them because of the reflections off the window! Makes it very hard to see the passenger seats from the outside too.

I got those from my dealer for around £130. They're really easy to fit and remove. You just clip the holders into place at the edges of the window, then just slot the blinds into place. They're a really good quality material which you'd expect for the price and fit perfectly. Basically - it's one big blind per side which covers the two window sections so that it looks like a tint.

You can also remove the blinds in seconds and stick them in a provided bag :)

Took me ages to convince myself about them because of the cost - but at the end of the day they're cheaper than tints, don't have to be declared to insurance and look great. Plus of course you can remove them if you needed to. If you're lucky, you might find some on eBay for cheap - but they're so rare it's unlikely.

I'm currently trying to convince myself that a rear electric blind is worth the money and effort to fit (interior out job), but not sure that's ever going to happen :p

My 5's got rear sunblinds too, but they roll up inside the doorcards, so not an easy retrofit option. Probably some clipon type available I imagine.

My E39 Accessories Brochure lists only Rear Window Rollerblind as a retrofit option, it's manually operated and costs £100 from your local dealer.

rear windows seem to be on realoem?

Thats what I've got, but they roll down behind the doorcards, so unless you can 'cut' your own slot for them to fit into, I would imagine a new doorcard would be needed for retrofitting them.
