FAO: R420 - Truck Accessories

Click on my profile... Unless they take on 14 Year Olds - I've got a little whilst till they will hire me. Plus probably need to work for the Army before they will even let me in :(

Just seen that, you've a few years to wait to be a driver.....
Eddie Stobart has a limited number of places available for persons who want to carve out a great career in the logistics industry as an LGV C + E (Class 1) driver. We are committed to providing all our new recruits with a fully structured training programme using state of the art modern equipment and techniques in our dedicated training Academy. You will achieve an LGV Licence, a nationally recognised QCF qualification and other relevant Industry qualifications within the first six months of your employment.

You will need to:

Be 18 years old by June 2011 (to comply with statutory training requirements)
Hold a full licence to drive a car
Be extremely reliable and a good timekeeper.

There you go, a few targets to hit in 4 years...... - I'm fairly confident that a similar scheme would still be in place.

Would you not just eat in restaurants if you are staying away on business?

Can you not grasp that it would not be clever for a truck driver to eat a restaurants constantly?

Not for you obviously though big man

I haven't had regular nights out for years but I was one of those thousands of lorries stuck on the M25 at Reigate hill last chrimbo. I still made it to Dover but it was time-out !!

I am one of the very few drivers of our company that actually take a "night out" bag with me when the weather looks like it's going to get dodgy.

The contents of that bag consist of....

And all important.. DON'T forget the bog roll.. You WONT be laughing if you do !!

I also start carrying various tins of beans & burgers & sausages etc <-- the "All in one can" jobs.

VERY IMPORTANT TIP re: Gaz burners. . .You MUST open at least two windows by about an inch before attempting to light one.

The last company I worked for a guy blew out all the windows in the truck by leaving them closed !!

You might want to take a digi camera with you as well. you'd be surprised at what you see and they come in handy for damage claims, both "load and road" !!

I also started a bit of a craze in our depot by commandeering a couple of bags of rock salt and chucking em on the catwalk each winter. After getting stuck (I wasn't stuck but just about every other booger in front of me was) I actually think a law should be passed to enforce carrying of at least one every winter.
