FAO: Those running Vista Ultimate

I need the full package as I do work remotely from home as a network admin.

has your company not tried using vnc? i am guessing there is some reason i don't know about that forces you to use windows remote.

i've tried it myself and its so bad compared to vnc that i can't describe its badness properly (although i'd like to).

I'd've said the opposite. VNC's just a screen scraper - Microsoft's RDP is more like a thin client solution - far more elegant and should be faster/use less bandwidth.

i am sure you are right. from your post i can tell you are more informed than i am. i thought vnc did exactly what the ms one does, but i only use vnc for doing simple stuff.

i brought vista ultimate for one reason.... Dream Scene, now I'd just wish they'd release it already.

oh and because you can just buy the 64bit version w/o no hassle.

-being able to remote onto the other machines i have on the network
-being able to use the xbox360 media center extender feature

the first is unavailable with home premium, the second is not available with business, grr!

There is an RDP client on Vista Home Premium. I use it daily.

Why did you go for Ultimate over the other editions? :)

I'm especially curious due to the price difference when considering the retail edition.

T E C H N E T :)

Aye I just checked that as I have both a Technet subscription and an MSDN operating system subscripton. I have access to all full editions of Vista on both :)
