w3bbo, could do with some of your wise guidance, with my Q6600.

I'm having issues trying to get 3.4 - 3.6Ghz with ram at 1600Mhz. All my Hardware details are below.

All ram has past 3 passes of memtest.
Would really like 3.8Ghz stable with the ram at 1600Mhz.......Please please please could you help me out on this.
And i'm not to sure about the math behind the GTL Ref setting's.

Kind Regards

As above really, although I'd guess the fact W3bbo had a Q6600 at 4.1Ghz or similar on water.

Yeah you said all really happy....:D

I'm suffering freezes with 9x multi / ram@ 1600....pushed vcore to 1.50 actual.

And 8Gig of ram is an issue, to a point but it's not impossible, from what i've seen posted here.

Yeah your right about me making the post FAO for W3bbo, but from what i've seen he's the man.

Yeah ok my bad!, i shall remember in future, sorry guy's.

So anybody reading this...... if you can advise me on my problem any help would be nice.

Ok happy getting that info for you now.

Cheers paulyD, i have seen this i think, im looking into info for the GTL (Gun Transceiver Logic) i have read loads of info on this i would just like a few thing's cleared up regarding the maths behind it.

Yes same loop, using the Fusion block which i removed and cleaned old factory paste off and re-applied AS5 (should have been MX-2 damn) to the heatsink NB/SB and Power Mosfets.

Swift tech rad x2 120mm fans. Is this rad with a built in res? ----- NO! Res has the pump attached old swiftech 5.25drive bay jobbie.

If heat is an issue an upgrade to some stronger CFM fans may help in reducing temps

Maybe the fusion block sucks, i have seen that there are other blocks which fit the fusion heatsink that do a much better job off cooling.
Could be the answer...as NB/SB seem to be running a tad high.

But the danger point on NB/SB is 58C ?

I think i'm going to remove Fusion block, clean it up and add some MX-2 and see if i can get the temps down on the SB/NB.

W3bbo thank's very much for responding to my msg, will go ahead and give your revised setting's ago.

And also check the cpu ceiling out.
Shall report back with details... :)

And everybody else that has given me info.....Thank's also.

You're welcome. Good luck!

Don't forget to report back.

Yeah will do, waiting for some MX-2 and some 3M Tim thermal pads x2(For Power Mosfet's) and a couple of Noctua NF-S12 120mm for my case, as one of the akasa 120mm Ambers seems to be losing speed.

Then shall set about finding the CPU's ceiling.....
Then i shall post back all info for you.

Thank's again.

W3bbo your revised setting's with bios volt's + volts in windows.
What do you think ?
Temps @ idle CPU 27 - SPP 46 - MCP 49 in windows.
Have tried to run this under load but the system freeze's.
Haven't been able to do the cpu ceiling yet, will do that on this coming monday as i work weekends.
Sorry about being slow on the re-post but have been a tad busy.

Backed off the vcore voltage, reads 1.54v in windows...much more stable.

Also, bear in mind that once you get your rig stable, but you leave it idling for 30-45 minutes and found that it has restarted, that is due to Loadline Calibration.

EDIT - but by reading your post more carefully, I see NB temp is kept in check by you. :D[/QUOTE]

Yeah i sussed that LLC is a bad thing from the way my OC was behaving, so that was disabled straight away.

I have managed to get 3.6Ghz stable with the ram @ 1600Mhz unlinked at the moment as i'm now shaving off volts from each area as to get the temps down some more but retaining the stability, which is nice.

Also just about to strip the whole thing down again and add a second W/C loop in to do the NB/SB and Power Mosfets as the FUSION block doesn't really cut it, as the temps via the fusion block seem to be to high, even though i cleaned the fusion block's factory paste and applied MX-2 to the NB/SB and also added 2 x 3M thermal pads to the mosfets.
I know this has made the fusion block more effective at transfering heat to the W/C loop by the way that the temps went up.

Idle Volts CPU 1.52 NB 1.42 SB 1.58 VTT 1.38 PLL 1.71
Idle temps CPU 25 SPP 46 MCP 49

Working on getting all the voltages down at the moment.......Work in progress!
