FAQ [TW]fox

lol good point, are you gonna be selling the mondeo when you get the beemer fox?

Unlikely. It's not really worth anything, so I might as well just keep it. Might come in handy when Dad changes car.

Break it for parts?
Use the car as a base for a kitcar?

No way, I like it too much :p
Mount it on the wall of your room as a momento!*

*may require serious home modifications

And does 'where did you get the RSAP kit count as a faq?"

i was lucky i got a genuine ford rsap front bumper with mesh and fogs for £50 :D :p rear one cost me £100 :( still looking for some side skirts there isn't many going second hand so i might have to get them brand new but thats £200

It has RSAP and a leather interior so those bits alone would give you a worthwhile return.

No it wouldn't. The entire car is worth what, £1500-£2k tops?

To me, given the enjoyment I've had from it etc etc, thats not a worthwhile return. I'd rather keep it than see some chav drive off with it for less than 2k or break it into bits.

Could find a use for it in the family. Dads thinking of buying something impractical anyway so a spare practical hatch won't go amiss.

They are genuine Ford bumpers. I bought them from a guy on a forum who had..... taste issues and decided his mint silver ST24 would look far nicer with a huge wing and a streetfighter bodykit. I bought both front and rear bumpers, and sideskirts, for £190.

Taste issues... yeah right. Truth is Fox went Derren Brown on him and via weeks of mind trickery not only convinced the poor guy to ruin his car but also to sell him his old bumpers for a bargain basement price. :(

fox, how many miles would u say you get from your mondeo from say 10 pounds of fuel

Erm, I've no idea as I just fill it right up but around town I get about 25mpg which is... about 75 or so?

Whereas if I'm on a long trip, about 130.

I must have a pretty light foot then, I'm currently averaging about 25mpg, but after a bit of heavy right foot over the weekend I'll be looking at about 20mpg :p

I get on average about 120 miles to £20 which I am happy with, my Rover214 SEi only did like 140 miles to £20, so the comparison is to my advantage.

What fuel do you use Fox, standard unleaded or super?

Standard. It specifically states in my handbook that there is no advantage to higher RON fuel - it's not a Jap import or a car specifically mapped for performance, so standard is fine :)

Hmmm, the handbook for mines states not to use anything lower than RON95 also (does not mention no benefit in using a high octane though) but I do find a difference with RON97-98 fuel, best so far is Sainsbury's which is BP Ultimate, I deffinately get more mpg out of this than standard unleaded and a slight increase in performance, maybe the engine is mapped to make use of the higher octane fuels better that the Zetec's

i'm pretty sure the v6's have a knock sensor so you will see an improve in using higher octane fuel :)

A tenner worth of fuel (at 92p per liter around here right now) is about 75miles on my 31mpg average (I've been keeping a log). My best has been 37.7mpg over 120miles (pretty much all motorway at about 75mph), which is about 90 miles for a tenner.

The two 1998 V6 duratec lumps I have don't, I think it was introduced with some engine revisions around 99-00.

i know the st200s definitly do and according to a certain disc i have it says that the 170ps v6 should have them aswell but i doesn't say what year :)
