Far Cry 3 Details

Ahh, Far Cry, I got excited about Far Cry 2, it looked beautiful, the spreading fire model was brilliant, and the trailers with the weather systems. It had so much potential. Then I played it...

Needless to say, I'm not getting excited about this one. Definitely not buying it unless I hear some very special things about it.

Told Ubisoft I was never buying another game from them after my Assassins Creed 2 came out of the box with the code already registered so they can go and DIAF.

Far Cry 2 was interesting. The plot was nearly clever (your first character is a bad guy), had some cool ideas (buddies as extra lives) and I did kinda dig driving across the desert as the sun came up. Alas it had a lot wrong with it. One of those 6/10 games that makes you say "If only".

Whats everyones beef with Ubisoft? I personally loved Farcry 1, didn't get around to playing Farcry 2 but will definitely get Farcry 3 as it looks awesome

Beef:
1) Annoying DRM that means that pirates can play a game I bought and I cannot
2) Systematically ruining several of my favourite franchises
3) General disregard and disrespect for the PC Gamer

I never played the first one, the second was terrible though. The freeroaming was crap, you had a choice of paths, but you still had to stick to the paths and fight the enemies the game wanted youto.

MP map design was poor iirc, I only played it a couple of times before I gave up with it.

What really narked me was the lack of mod support. They blocked out the community who would have fixed the mess they made

So far the original Far Cry still entertains the best (everything prior to the Trigens lol).

FC2 DVD needs to be pulped and turned into toilet paper. One of the worst games ever. The really bummer is that it had the POTENTIAL to be SO much more. The idea was good, the sounds were good, the effects were good (the fire was brilliant). But the gameplay. They should have named the game InstaReSpawn 2. And I havent forgotten the horror of "intercept the convoy". Yep. The convoy doing Indie-car race track pattern. Round and round and round. Groan.

While Im interested to see what they do with FC3 Im hoping they wont further insult the name of the legendary first title and make something halfway decent.

Never played the full versions of FC1 or 2. FC1 I did play a lot of the demo though and for its time it was truly amazing.

Bear in mind that FC2 did great business and the brand is still strong even minus Crytek. The "everyman" hero in the trailer is quite annoying though - here's hoping the gameplay is better :)

Back when I had my trusty old Geforce 8800GTX far cry looked stunning... Game was naff IMO and I was glad I played a friends copy (back in the day when you could actually grab a friends DVD and install play, hand back lol) as I simply didn't get on with it at all...

I didn't even know there was a second, yet alone a third game.. erm, shows how much I cared for this series...

I could have enjoyed FC2 if after spending nearly all my health and ammo clearing a checkpoint, they didn't re-spawn once I'd gone 2 yards down the road.

Let's hope it isn't a steaming pile of turd like Far Cry 2.

The only problems I had with Far Cry 2 were the respawing every 30 seconds and malaria which meant about 40 hours in the game you basically died if you hadn't completed the story. Shame as it could have been really good.

Here's an idea for ubisoft, before you make new games to try and swindle us again how about fixing what you've already made us pay for?

Looks like this is a console port through and through, and it's also made by Ubi****. No idea why someone made a section in the PC Games bit, this is Ubisoft and they hate PC gamers.
